Andy Goncalves has been working as a personal trainer for over 20 years in Portland, Oregon. Around the same time, he found a good yoga teacher and took up the study of yoga. He helped treat chronic low back pain, along with other aches and pains through his practice of yoga and he also quickly developed the impulse to share this with others. He completed his yoga teacher training through Integrative Yoga Therapy in 2003, and a five year in-depth training in Spacial Dynamics® in 2011 with an emphasis on movement therapy.
For the last five years, Andy has been working at Physical Medicine and Injury Rehabilitation as an Exercise Therapist, incorporating both Spacial Dynamics® and yoga in a one-on-one setting and helping people work through various injuries and ailments. Each session is tailored to the individual and he works to achieve proper mechanics and alignment along with dynamic balance between strength and flexibility. He utilizes various exercises, stretching and muscle stabilization.
Andy also provides weekly yoga classes at Bothmer Hall, which located next door to the clinic. Andy has been an avid basketball player and sports enthusiast since childhood; he also writes songs and plays guitar, and occasionally performs locally around Portland.
